Our group was arranged to meet our client at 3.45pm last Friday. We re-assigned our grouping from 4 to 2 person in a group and will be in-charge of the OE group company that sells winter wear. OE group does not have a website but a registered web-hosting link. Currently, our group is told to design the layout for the website and present it to our client on Thursday.
We began to research on other websites that are related to winter wear products. Meanwhile, we visited the library and borrowed some books which has layouts of existing websites and some of the design books for reference. After spending sometime looking through the books, we started mind-mapping out what are the features that we would like to include on the website. Researching through the jquery plugins and planning out to see if the idea is workable.
After jotting down all the ideas, we added in to our Terms Of Reference(TOR) as part of researching section before proceeding to design our layout.
By using new media, online application or social networking, changes it’s face of how business connect with their customers. e.g. a small business company,Standing Sushi Bar a sushi restaurant.
Howard Lo, the owner of Standing Sushi Bar uses new media technology to improve his business. He promotes promotions on twitter and monitor feedback of his restaurant and the industry. Engaging the people on Facebook and post up promotions information and uploads photos of his restaurant products ,even writing entries on his blog of his F & B experiences and sharing resources to his viewers.Through online networking,Howard targets the young and text savvy audiences. Attracting this age group has influenced the big part of the restaurant social media campaign. With the interactive marketing, it also welcome “non-twitter” users to visit his restaurant by just saying the word “twitter” and get discounts from it which also indirectly increased his sales target.

Email marketing are introduced as a strategy to advertise to the world. However, there are still advantages and disadvantages to it. Firstly the advantages of emailing are, users can send out through mass send or forward to friends with just a click to advertise your marketing campaign which is much more efficient unlike advertising it through flyers, posters which can only share through direct communication. Secondly, Advertisements/campaign can be send out around the whole without paying a single cent and get response fast if they are interested in buying your products. A difference about email marketing and other marketing strategy, email are easily track down through who receives your email, opens them or whether they have deactivated their email addresses. However, there are still disadvantages to email marketing. Ignoring of overflow spam of emails everyday as they are not interested in the products. Unknown email addresses sent out they will probably think that it might be a virus or spam emails. Spam emails will lead to blocked of IP addresses which will not be effective and low response on your marketing campaign.Settings made to sent out emails daily even if you block them, they will still use other email address to sent out the products to you.
The organisation my group has chosen was Hospice Care Association(HCA) and what i have to research on is to compare the differences between HCA and other similar countries website. Therefore, i have chosen to compare with Hospice Foundation of America. Among the two organisations, i have decided to compare based on what the website has provide using social media tools. Hence,below are my key findings:
